What Is the IAQ Trifecta™?

The Complete Air Path Cleaning Standard

The IAQ Trifecta™ is a comprehensive 5-component indoor air quality service that cleans the entire HVAC air path in a single visit. Developed by Breezy Air Services in Huntington Beach, California, it addresses a fundamental problem in the HVAC industry: companies selling duct cleaning, coil cleaning, and blower cleaning as three separate services when the air path is one interconnected system.

The Problem

Why Traditional Duct Cleaning Fails Within Weeks

The HVAC industry treats duct cleaning, coil cleaning, and blower cleaning as three separate services — sold at three separate prices, often by three separate companies. This approach ignores a basic engineering reality: air flows through one continuous path.

Clean Ducts + Dirty Coil

Every time the system runs, air passes over the contaminated coil and picks up mold, bacteria, and debris — then distributes it through the freshly cleaned ducts. Re-contamination begins within days.

Clean Ducts + Dirty Blower

The blower wheel spins at 800–1,200 RPM, flinging accumulated dust and biological material into the airstream. A dirty blower negates duct cleaning results within 2–4 weeks.

Clean Coil + Clogged Drain

A clean coil draining into a clogged line creates standing water — the perfect environment for mold and bacteria that migrate back up into the system and your home's air supply.

The engineering reality: cleaning one component while leaving the others contaminated is like changing the oil filter but leaving dirty oil in the engine. The contamination source remains — it just moves through the system differently.

The Five Components

Anatomy of the IAQ Trifecta™

The IAQ Trifecta addresses every contamination source in the HVAC air path. Each component targets a specific section of the system where contaminants accumulate, grow, and re-enter the living space.

01

NADCA-Certified Duct Cleaning

2–3 hours

What It Is

Complete cleaning of the entire duct system — supply runs, return plenums, trunk lines, and branch ducts — using negative-pressure HEPA-filtered equipment.

Why It Matters

Ducts accumulate dust, pet dander, pollen, insulation fibers, and biological growth over time. In coastal Southern California, salt air accelerates corrosion that releases metallic particulates into the airstream.

Method

A high-powered vacuum creates negative pressure across the entire duct system while compressed-air whips and rotary brushes agitate and dislodge debris from duct walls. All extracted material passes through HEPA filtration before exhaust. Each register is individually cleaned and documented with before/after photography.

Result

Removes accumulated particulates from the distribution network. Restores designed airflow velocity and eliminates the reservoir of contaminants that would otherwise re-enter the living space with every HVAC cycle.

Contaminants Addressed

Dust & particulates Pet dander & hair Pollen & allergens Insulation fibers Mold spores Construction debris
02

Evaporator Coil Restoration

1–2 hours

What It Is

Deep cleaning of the evaporator coil — the primary heat-exchange surface inside the air handler where refrigerant absorbs heat from indoor air.

Why It Matters

The evaporator coil operates in a perpetually wet environment (condensation forms every cooling cycle). This creates an ideal breeding ground for mold, bacteria, and biofilm. A contaminated coil restricts airflow, reduces cooling efficiency by 20–40%, and introduces biological contaminants directly into the air your family breathes.

Method

The coil is accessed through the air handler cabinet. A professional-grade coil cleaner is applied to dissolve biological growth and debris. The coil is then rinsed and inspected under light to verify complete cleaning. Fin alignment is checked and corrected if needed to restore optimal airflow across the coil surface.

Result

Restores heat-transfer efficiency, eliminates the primary source of biological contamination in the HVAC system, and reduces the musty odor that many homeowners associate with running the AC.

Contaminants Addressed

Mold & mildew Bacteria & biofilm Dust buildup on fins Organic debris Drain blockage material
03

Blower Wheel Deep Clean

1–1.5 hours

What It Is

Complete disassembly and cleaning of the blower wheel (squirrel cage) — the component that physically moves all conditioned air through your home.

Why It Matters

The blower wheel spins at 800–1,200 RPM, pulling air across the evaporator coil and pushing it through the duct system. Over time, each blade accumulates a thick layer of dust, grease, and biological material. A dirty blower wheel loses 20–30% of its airflow capacity, forcing the motor to work harder, consuming more energy, and distributing contaminated air.

Method

The blower assembly is removed from the air handler. Each blade of the squirrel cage is individually cleaned to remove caked-on debris. The motor housing is inspected, and the assembly is reinstalled with proper alignment verified by amperage draw testing.

Result

Restores full airflow volume, reduces motor strain and energy consumption, and eliminates the last contamination source in the air path. Without blower cleaning, a clean coil and clean ducts are re-contaminated within weeks.

Contaminants Addressed

Caked dust & grease Biological growth Pet hair wrapped on blades Debris from coil
04

Drain Pan Cleaning

30 minutes

What It Is

Thorough cleaning and sanitization of the condensate drain pan — the collection tray beneath the evaporator coil that catches moisture during cooling cycles.

Why It Matters

The drain pan sits in a dark, perpetually moist environment — the perfect incubator for mold, algae, and bacterial slime. A neglected drain pan can overflow, causing water damage to ceilings and walls, and the biological growth produces musty odors that circulate through the entire home.

Method

The drain pan is accessed, all standing water and debris are removed, the pan surface is cleaned and treated with an antimicrobial solution to inhibit future biological growth. The pan is inspected for cracks, corrosion, or improper slope that could cause drainage issues.

Result

Eliminates a hidden source of biological contamination and musty odors. Prevents costly water damage from overflow. Ensures proper condensate drainage for the life of the system.

Contaminants Addressed

Algae & slime Mold colonies Bacterial growth Rust & corrosion debris
05

Drain Line Purging

30 minutes

What It Is

Complete clearing and flushing of the condensate drain line — the pipe that carries moisture from the drain pan to the exterior of the home.

Why It Matters

Condensate drain lines clog over time with algae, biofilm, and debris. A clogged drain line is the #1 cause of emergency HVAC shutdowns in Southern California — the system's safety float switch triggers when water backs up, killing the entire system until the line is cleared.

Method

The drain line is cleared using compressed nitrogen or CO₂ to blast through blockages. The line is then flushed with a cleaning solution to remove biofilm buildup along the interior walls. A wet/dry vacuum is used at the exterior termination point to verify full flow. The line is treated with antimicrobial tablets to prevent re-clogging.

Result

Prevents emergency shutdowns, eliminates a common source of water damage, and ensures continuous drainage throughout the cooling season. Most homeowners don't know their drain line is clogged until the system shuts down on the hottest day of the year.

Contaminants Addressed

Algae blockages Biofilm buildup Sediment & debris Insect nests

Case Study: Aranet4-Verified IAQ Improvement

L.H. — SeaCliff, Huntington Beach

Google Review (verified)

"We live in the SeaCliff area near Huntington Beach high school and though our HVAC system is only 5 years old we were experiencing dust, uneven air flow and spots of poor air quality (per Aranet4). I called Breezy & Cory came out to inspect. He quickly identified that our compressor was good and high capacity but our ducting was undersized and inefficiently configured... We immediately noticed a huge improvement in airflow and our air quality readings are now excellent in every area of every room! And, there is zero dust."

Why This Case Study Matters

  • Customer independently verified results using their own Aranet4 IAQ monitor — not Breezy's equipment
  • 5-year-old system — contamination isn't just an "old system" problem
  • Air quality readings went from "spots of poor air quality" to "excellent in every area of every room"
  • Zero dust accumulation after service — visible confirmation of particulate reduction
  • Customer already planning to use Breezy at another property

Allergy & Asthma Sufferers

Removes 80–90% of airborne particulates that trigger respiratory symptoms. Multiple customers report significant symptom improvement within days.

Families with Young Children

Children breathe 50% more air per pound of body weight than adults. Reducing airborne contaminants has an outsized impact on developing respiratory systems.

Homes 3+ Years Since Last Cleaning

After 3 years, coil and blower contamination reaches levels that measurably impact air quality and system efficiency, regardless of filter quality.

Post-Construction or Renovation

Construction generates fine particulates (drywall dust, paint VOCs, adhesive off-gassing) that embed in the HVAC system and circulate for months.

Luxury & High-Performance Homes

Tight building envelopes trap contaminants inside. The IAQ Trifecta resets the air path so mechanical ventilation and filtration systems perform as designed.

Coastal Southern California Homes

Salt air, marine layer moisture, and seasonal Santa Ana winds create unique contamination patterns that accelerate biological growth in HVAC systems.
