Coffee roaster with custom exhaust system installed by Breezy Air Services
For Coffee Roasters

One Grease Fire Shuts You Down. Is Your Exhaust System Ready?

Most roastery exhaust systems are installed by general HVAC contractors who don't understand chaff loads, fire code nuances, or makeup air balancing. We do. Breezy designs, installs, and maintains industrial exhaust systems built specifically for coffee roasting operations.

Our Process

From Assessment to Compliance

A transparent process that gets your system installed right, inspected, and documented — so you never worry about fire code again.

01

Discovery & System Design

We assess your space, roaster specs, and operational needs. We coordinate with your roaster manufacturer to design a compliant, efficient exhaust and ventilation system.

02

Professional Installation

Our certified technicians install your system with precision — hoods, ductwork, chaff collectors, spark arrestors, fans, and makeup air units integrated seamlessly.

03

Testing & Fire Marshal Coordination

We rigorously test airflow and performance, then coordinate directly with your local fire marshal for inspection and sign-off.

04

Ongoing Maintenance & Documentation

Scheduled cleaning with documented before/after photos. Your fire marshal records stay current. Your system stays compliant. Your roastery stays open.

If your exhaust contractor can't show you a fire code compliance report for your specific roaster model, you don't have a partner. You have a liability.

"Breezy Air Services was a game-changer for our new roastery. They understood the code requirements inside and out and installed a system that keeps our facility safe and our air clean. Their team was professional, on time, and documented everything. We use them for all our quarterly maintenance now."

Common Questions

Coffee Roaster Exhaust FAQ

What fire codes apply to coffee roasting exhaust systems in California?

California coffee roasters must comply with NFPA 96 (commercial cooking ventilation), local fire marshal requirements, and SCAQMD air quality regulations. Systems require fire-rated ductwork, spark arrestors, proper clearances from combustibles, and regular cleaning documentation. We design every system to exceed these standards.

How often should coffee roaster exhaust ductwork be cleaned?

Most roasting operations need exhaust duct cleaning every 3-6 months depending on volume. High-volume roasters (1000+ lbs/week) may need quarterly cleaning. We provide documented cleaning with before/after photos for your fire marshal records.

What is a makeup air unit and why does my roastery need one?

A makeup air unit replaces the air your exhaust system removes. Without it, you get negative pressure — doors won't close properly, roast profiles become inconsistent, and your exhaust system works harder. Properly sized makeup air is critical for consistent roasting and energy efficiency.

How do you handle chaff collection in roaster exhaust systems?

We install inline chaff collectors and spark arrestors before the exhaust fan. This prevents chaff buildup in ductwork (a major fire hazard) and protects the fan motor. We size collectors based on your roaster capacity and batch frequency.

Can you work with my roaster manufacturer on exhaust specifications?

Absolutely. We coordinate directly with Probat, Loring, Diedrich, Giesen, and other manufacturers to ensure our exhaust design matches their CFM requirements, static pressure specs, and warranty conditions.

Do you service coffee roasters in Orange County and Los Angeles?

Yes. We serve coffee roasters across Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the Inland Empire. Our service area includes Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Long Beach, DTLA, Pasadena, and surrounding areas.
